In "Built Like a Woman" there are no pictures at all of my house. For those of you who are curious, this is what it looks like. It is constructed from bought mudbricks (I wouldn't have had the time or will to make them), timber roof and second story structure and corrugated iron roof. It has an open living/dining/kitchen area, with a loft on top, two bathrooms, a conservatory with a swimming pool, an attic guest room, a studio, four bedrooms, pantry, laundry, carport, cubby house, wood shed, workshop, garden shed, chicken coop all built by me. The house and carport totals 320 square metres, not counting the pergola, outbuildings and veranda. I subcontracted a draftsman, a plumber, an electrician, a carpenter to do the big part of the timber structure and a roofer for the big part of the roof. It is always easier to point out what I didn't do, than what I did. I did everything else! To do the main building work took four years, unless you count the cornices which aren't up yet, but as I always say, they will be soon. That is with having a job as well, otherwise it would obviously have been much quicker. It seems that once you start, stopping isn't so easy.
